The monument was built on a hill near Reškutėnai village in 2009, to commemorate the millennium of the first mention of Lithuania's name in history. The stone monument, decorated with forged Baltic symbols, is reminiscent of Gediminas' original pillars. Lithuanian symbols and the most famous objects of the area are carved into the stones. Next to the monument is a monumental exposition dedicated to honouring local partisans and commemorating the nation's period of exile.
