If you decide to spend a few hours in Palūšė, you can book a 1 or 2 hour sightseeing tour around Palūšė and its surroundings.
The excursion starts at the Visitors Center of Aukštaitija National Park, where participants are introduced to the history of the park and Palūšė village. The Palūšė Church, one of the most beautiful and oldest wooden churches in Lithuania, is visited (exterior usually). The archaeological values of the park are exhibited in the archaeological exposition: a true-to-life size model of an ancient burial mound introduces us to the barrow culture, and the reconstruction of a stone-age hut allows us to look at people's lives in these lands thousands of years ago. If you have time for a 2 hour tour, the excursion would be further enhanced by a walk along the coast of lake Lūšiai, where 14 wooden sculptures tell beautiful legends of this region.
Guided tours are available in Lithuanian, English and Russian.
Tours are booked in advance.
